This morning, I was faced with snow drifts up to my waist outside the front door, thanks to the high winds and snow in the night. I spent a good hour digging my way to the garage so my wife could get her car out and get to work. Thankfully, I was able to work from home.
This shot is from about an hour after I finished the first dig. I completed the second dig in the afternoon, and am very relieved there is very little snow in the forecast for the weekend.
Don’t get me wrong. I love snow. I love living in a place where there is real winter — but I think I wouldn’t mind some signs of spring right about now…

..... and so there we bloody well go again. Pretty but also a nuisance - and the third time this winter, with yet three more months to go (though I've also seen snow here in May.)
(Come to think of it, there are only three months that we are guaranteed never to have to heat our houses. Firewood was always dead cheap here but I do often wonder how the other villagers are coping; not many here are even moderately well-to-do.)

Oh. 12-18 inches above 5,000 feet. We're at 4,925 feet. So yeah. #snow #lotsofsnow
