Shiny new toy. #loupeDeck

I finally had time to update my Loupedeck library for Go to use the "new" USB serial interface that modern firmware supports, instead of the network device interface that the original firmware used.

This lets you use a Loupedeck as a controller on a Raspberry Pi or whatever, without any of Loupedeck's code.

It's still a bit rough, and I'm using 'log/slog', which means that it wants Go 1.21. Changing that would be mostly trivial if anyone cares.

I was on macOS Monterey on my M1 machine. Upgrading to Ventura makes #Loupedeck crash with a kernel panic. I verified that installing Loupedeck onto a clean Ventura without my files works fine, so it's something in my existing data. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

For my #Linux peeps - has anyone had success getting #Loupedeck / #LoupedeckLive working in Linux? There's a few things in github but they appear to be libraries rather than full solutions? #GoXLR as well but there appears to be a reasonably solution already (but haven't tried it yet). Would love to use Linux a bit more and for content creation but need my tools! @gamingonlinux tagging you as you're well connected in the community.

reviews of the #Loupedeck+ #hardware photo/video editing controller all express disappointment that despite its positive attributes, it’s controls are not very solid or well-built, in the way that dependable “pro” hardware feels, eg a good keyboard, or a good older camera.

Latest ubuntu update - I've been able to get it installed well enough (my 3090 will only work with the proprietary 5.25 driver, not the open kernel version and not the generic driver).

Interestingly, my keyboard stops working every time I restart/turn off Ubuntu. Not sure if this is related to the USB switch I use but it sure is annoying, especially if I need to access the UEFI. Need to turn on the computer and quickly unplug and replug the keyboard before I can rapidly mash DEL or it won't recognise the USB. This doesn't happen with Windows.

Unfortunately the big issue is going to be the lack of support for my Loupedeck Live, which is going to impact streaming and content creation. This is 100% Loupedeck's problem as they need to provide a Linux driver and interface for the peripheral, but at the end of the day it's an insurmountable barrier to using Ubuntu as my primary OS on my main rig.

I'll keep it installed - who knows, maybe one day we'll get Linux support from Loupedeck.

Hmm. One (pretty major) issue with switching over to Linux would be the lack of support for the Loupedeck Live, which I use both for streaming and for video editing. This would more or less be a deal breaker unfortunately. I'm also seeing some grumbling about a lack of support for some DaVinci Resolve features in the Linux version (or paywalling some free Windows features behind Studio).

Still giving it a go to see how I can get it to work.

Sent in yet another bug report to #Loupedeck, let's see if I get an actual response this time. I'm not sure who is doing their software product testing, but they really need someone else doing it. The quality of this software is frustrating.

I put in a support ticket with #Loupedeck as I couldn't get macros with arrow keys to work correctly with my Live S. The form said expect a response within two business days.

It's been more like 2 weeks now, and the only thing I've gotten from them is newsletter emails/spam that I didn't sign up for.
