A short but steep walk to a *very* obscure Bronze Age cairn on Mynydd y Lan above Crosskeys today.

Not the most impressive cairn, but it's 3-4000 years old so I can't complain too much. A bit overcast for the long views, but still a nice viewpoint looking towards Mynydd Machen across the valley. As ever, it's good to get up in the hills.

For #TombTuesday, an account of my visit to 8 #BronzeAge barrows along the ridge between the Rhymni and Sirhywi valleys in South Wales last January.

Being the #Valleys, it's a mix of superb archaeology and frustration at the lack of care some people are taking of their heritage.

(I badly neglected writing fieldnotes over the last few years, so forgive the writing rustiness. I blame Twitter for absorbing too much of my energy.)
