Personally I just tend to install @ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS on most systems as it's a #64bit distro (#RaspberryPiOS is only available for #ARM, #ARM64 & #i386) and comes with support for basically everything anyone ever asked for - including #Steam.
@bunsenlabs is my go-to distro to use on #lowend systems.

There are #HighFalutin variants where-in I get an #esata drive for the local bbs but for now a boring thumbnail sized 16gb usb3 flash is plenty plenty plenty. Oh this age does have many great devices, big & especially especially small. #lowend #worship!

PoE is a damned miracle at least until g.hn microminiaturizes & costs down. So cool seeing it's availability accepted that so so blessed #lowend. New waves of potential arise! Yay pi PoE hat.

i'm pretty glad my secondhand market has such a fantastic great alternative to the surface go for considerably less money. and i'm glad the #lowend gets some love too.

fwiw, chuwi's lapbook 12.3 is $330 and packs a 2k ips retina display, an impressively solid macbook "inspired" metal build, a pretty good keyboard, & a non-low-end cpu (but last gen cpu, worse now when released was good!). absolutely the #lowend laptop to beat, & almost a year old.

it'll be interesting to see how these things are priced. nxp's i.MX 8M is new, but qualcomm's 624 and 212 snapdragons are multi-year old midline/low end processors. mediatek's mt8516 is new but very much a low end core- they're my best hope Android Things becomes actually useful in anything other than expensive, fancy devices. i'm far more interested in how we serve the #lowend, in accessible within-reach hardware, vs ridiculous $100+ dev kits.

Shit is fucked up & this kind of thing - the dirty grizzly mass-scale industrialized world slowly getting back into gear - is the only thing that can save us. As much as the high end chips is an amazing world to live in, I look, again & again, to what us here have accessible at the #LowEnd.
