I didn't know where to put this.
It's an article from a digital historical source.
It's about Cleveland's history of steel production and pollution. I grew up in the #LTVsteel neighborhoods. Many of the children were born with various medical issues/complications (me and my siblings are chronically ill and disabled in some way). Mass disabling events aren't due to only pandemics of viruses. World reports under document illness and disability. I'm certain of it. #WHO is nothing to go by. Might as well be the #CDC.
So, ANYWAYS, I realized the past couple days, that my struggles with breathing and #airQuality are nothing new, I think I am just less resilient, or um... SICKER, and it's harder to roll with the proverbial punches. Seeing the kids struggling with this makes my #mentalHealth state worse.
I remember my parents telling me about my oldest brother, born in 1971, having the worst #asthma of anyone in the family. My parents didn't own a car, they had to take the RTA (busline, we called it "Rita"), no matter the weather or situation. They had to take the bus, with my asthmatic brother to the hospital, sometimes 2 times a month, due to breathing emergencies, where he would get nebulizer treatments and so on.
I realized. It was the pollution in #Cleveland. My brother was diagnosed with #emphysema in his early 30's (of course, smoking didn't help, but, he did quit about 5 years ago, I heard this thru the grapevine because he doesn't talk to me anymore). One of his kids (my niece) had an asthma diagnosis as a baby and developed #RA by age 7. #Lupus runs in my family, as does RA, #Psoriasis, #Crohns, #Celiac, and of course, #diabetes, #heartDisease and #neurological issues. We are a sick family (increasingly worse over the generations). This can all be traced to #racism and the #American caste system, #poverty, and of course, #pollution, #industrialization, #capitalism.
So anyways, here's that article:
