Question for #writers: do your #cats help or hinder your #writing?

My #luckyblackcat Sulu likes to lie on the desk between my arms and watch me type. He also accompanies me when I research abandoned buildings for my creepy Gothic stories.

What about yours? Do they also take a benign interest? Or they try to distract you when you want to concentrate, or do they lie on the keyboard when you're trying to write? Or are they too busy napping to care?

Meet my new 'kitten (still to be named). This 4-month-old black boy was found injured & paralysed. His kind rescuer took him to the vet for emergency teatment. He survived against the odds & even regained the use of his legs.
He was shy at first & hid under furniture, but my gentle adult cat Sulu encouraged him & told him that this is a good, safe place to live.
He now enjoys playing & cuddles. He adores his new big brother Sulu.

@Lojie The little boy is here. He was very frightened at first, and hid for several days. (His early life was obvioiusly traumatic, and he learnt that the world is a dangerous place.)
But he's gained confidence, especially with the help of my older cat, Sulu, who encourages him gently. He gets on well with my other cats, too. Sometimes he comes to me, asks me to pet him, and purrs.
Yes, I'm in love.

He's been very shy, hiding for several days. I was patient and gave him time.
He's now come out of hiding, has met my other cats - who welcomed him - and made friends with my adult #luckyblackcat Sulu. He's still nervous, but sometimes asks me to pet him, and purrs contentedly.
I'm thinking of naming him Chekhov (after Sulu's young friend on board the star ship Enterprise). 😃

I had this chair built for myself - a sturdy chair, strong enough to hold my weight and support me while I do chair yoga, with broad armrests where I can put a drink and a notebook for writing.

What I didn't expect: my pets love it. There's always a cat or a dog sitting or lying on this chair. . Here is my #luckyblackcat Sulu. He's kindly allowed space for me to sit, though I won't be able to place my notebook for #writing. 😀

My cat Sulu is not pleased with the snow and cold. He sits outside the kitchen window, looks at me accusingly, and miaows his protests loudly.

(Where we live in rural Bulgaria, it's safe for cats to be out of doors. Normally, Sulu loves the freedom to roam - but not with his paws treading on the white cold wet stuff!)

I lit a bonfire, intending to use these cardboard box lids as tinder. Then #cathappened.

My #luckyblackcat Sulu thought 'Cardbard box = cat seat', hopped in and watched the bonfire, close enough for a good view and warm wafts, distant enough to be safe.

I wrote this book because once upon a time, I desperately wanted to learn how to write great fight scenes, and at the time, no such resource was available. So some years later I wrote this book to help other writers.
