@sixtus
🤨 BerlinerInnen erinnern sich da vage an ein ASOG in den 80ern.
Aber die hat's ja gern mit der Tradition 🤕😡 wenn es ihr nützt.

"The aren’t hardly here no more. We need to talk to them. We need you, Salmon People; the LifeGivers . You gave up your lives so we can live. It is important for our people, about who we really are. We sit in the lap of learning all there is to learn…not all at once, but built up over a lifetime, every day. We need to keep learning. To never quit learning. -

It's Treaty Day here in (home of subdued.social), where we recall the January 22, 1855 treaty between the United States and the native nations such as the and who have lived on these lands since time immemorial. It's an important day to educate yourself about the Point Elliott Treaty and our continuing obligations to each other and to this land. It was this treaty that made the existence of and possible. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_o

I live in where the local state college, Western Washington University, still holds 89 sets of people’s remains. @mitty of the local Herald dug deeper on this story broken by @ProPublica. Go Vikings!

Human Rights Watch had the honor of screening the beautifully personal documentary, Daughter of a Lost Bird, at our New York and London film festivals, which shares the story of Kendra Mylnechuk Potter, who was adopted into a white family and raised with no knowledge of her Native American parentage. The film follows Kendra as she discovers her Native identity, finds her birth mother, April, also a Native adoptee, and returns to her homelands in Washington State.

This issue is in the news as the state of Texas and several families adopting Native American children are challenging a federal law aimed at preventing Native American children from being separated from their extended families and their tribes. The US Supreme Court heard arguments in November in a case, Brackeen vs. Haaland, that many Native people fear may have broader implications for and self-governance. The Supreme Court will issue a decision by June 30, 2023.
