The Blessington Lunula: a stunning example of gold craft from the early Irish Bronze Age, over 4,000 years old. It's in the British Museum collection, having been (somehow) acquired by Rev William Greenwell, a CofE priest and amateur archeologist from Durham, who then sold it in 1909 to American banker JP Morgan, who donated it to the museum. But no records about where it was discovered were recorded in the Greenwell archive. #Gold #Lunula #BronzeAge #Archeology
