My grief with Air New Zealand is it seems they did everything they possibly could to make it worse and the doctors were equally unimpressed as they fear the delays have increased the risk of infection. This is Chris Luxon’s legacy. If we were in the USA they’d be hearing from my lawyer.

My son has two severed tendons and is having surgery today. He will be in Middlemore for the next two weeks as they will try to rebuild his hand with skin grafting.

About midnight we rushed him to Middlemore Hospital where he was seen by a hand specialist. He put him on antibiotics as the wound was still fill of glass and gravel, the doctor described it as a dirty wound that should have been properly cleaned hours earlier.

The Air NZ woman at Rarotonga told me Air New Zealand would do everything they can to help us when we landed including someone to greet us and a shuttle to help us get my son to hospital asap.

Halfway to the hospital he got a call from Charlie the ambulance driver who said he would meet us and take me and our luggage to the airport. Charlie said there’s nothing they can do in Raro and we need to get him back to NZ and have immediate specialist care. #NZPol #AirNewZealand #LuxonLegacy

The owner of Raro Tours, the company responsible, was there and told me he would take my luggage to a secure location. I said no buddy you’re taking me and my luggage directly to the hospital. He said he couldn’t he had a VIP pick up in 20 minutes. I told him I don’t care if you’re picking up the Queen. We hopped in his car. #NZPol #AirNewZealand #LuxonLegacy

My eldest son was severely injured, his hand/wrist had had all the flesh ripped off and his bones and tendons exposed. We were all in shock when the ambulance arrived. My wife and 3 children were taken to Rarotonga Hospital and I remained behind to watch our luggage. #NZPol #AirNewZealand #LuxonLegacy

Yesterday my family and I were heading to Rarotonga Airport to catch our Air New Zealand flight home to Auckland. The driver of our shuttle bus appears to have fallen asleep and drove off the road into a tree then rolled the bus. #NZPol #AirNewZealand #LuxonLegacy
