i really don't care about Lua, it's not a language that appeals to me. the pitch of "it's better than VimL" is... unimpressive.

isn't it amazing in computer science how difficult, how critical it is how programs expose themselves? there's the human system, and then, too often, there's the cryptic weird special-snowflake machine-to-machine #m2m interface. we have so few standards, all so different.

i think of wmii, "window manager improved improved", the 9p based tiling window manager, which, in it's latest reincarnation cycle to becoming i3 "improved improved improved" switched to it's own homegrown custom "simple" text based protocol, now also undergirding the new Wayland-based Sway window manager's means of communication & processing.

Resist becoming the operating system. Leave hooks in your machine for higher level systems & machines to work your machine. #m2m

Good interfaces have good exposed APIs. There's basically one window manager that's been steadily winning for decades now on Linux, & it's at least as much because it has an external interface as because of it's inherent goodness.

I'm absolutely not at all talking about embedded scripting or other in-process programmabilities- this is about exposing yourself to other programs, other ways of doing things.

And I can't wait to see #ux expand into an #m2m, start hybridizing into #dx. #AllIsOne!
