Got 2 brand new #MX500 #Crucial 1000GB with Firmware #M3CR045.
BOTH die on me the moment the bootloader is installed.
They recover when the data cable is disconnected for 5 minute (power must stay on!).
Apparently there is #M3CR046 fixing "a rare case" of hanging disk. Might be this. Might not. I can not even check, because I can not simply download the firmware. A ~200MB freakin TOOL by Crucial is needed for that.
Oh boy, that goes totally back to vendor. Fuck this shit.

The drive hang is something I've experienced on all 3 of my 1TB MX500's that came with firmware version #M3CR045.
Yesterday, #Crucial released firmware version #M3CR046 for the MX500 series drives which is supposed to fix this issue.
Does it? No idea, I just finished upgrading my drives so I'll report back if it seems to be solved.
In the meantime, let's talk about the shitshow that is upgrading the firmware and what you can do if you can't update the firmware to {maybe} prevent the hang
