Webb kiekt de Ringnevel in de Lier

Het nieuwe beeld van de beroemde Ringnevel van Webb's Near-InfraRed Camera (NIRCam) toont de ingewikkelde details van de filamentstructuur van de binnenste ring van de nevel, terwijl het nieuwe beeld van Webb's Mid-InfraRed Instrument (MIRI) bijzondere details onthult in de concentrische kenmerken in de buitenste regionen van de ring van de nevel.

Waarnemen – de Lier

Sterrenbeeld de Lier is een klein sterrenbeeld maar wel een met een grote aanwezigheid. In grootte is Lier het 52ste sterrenbeeld maar het is vanwege de heldere ster Wega nadrukkelijk aanwezig aan de sterrenhemel.

The aka is a planetary nebula in the constellation of approximately 2560 light years away. It formed about 7500 years ago as its central star rapidly expelled its supply of hydrogen which now forms the reddish outer ring. The blue center is comprised of doubly ionized oxygen that obscures the remaining faint central white dwarf. This image is 2.5 hours of exposures that I captured a few nights ago.

M57 Ring Nebula

Magnitude 8.8 planetary nebula located 2,567 light-years away in the constellation Lyra. At the center is a white dwarf that burns over 100,000 degrees Kelvin. Surrounding it is an envelope about 2 to 3 light years in size of what was once its outer layers that were blown away into a cylindrical shape some 6,000-8,000 years ago.
