Overall a fun project with lots of ups and downs, fails and wins.
Fantastic way to turn a half-dead macbook into a full working desktop though!
If anyone has any ideas of what I could add to it, or if you have any questions or advice for taking on your own version of this, I'd love to hear it and help.
Adj. regulators came in. Hooked up to the charger plug on the logic board. Feeds regulated 12v and 5v to the optical drive now.
All works as it should! I think I'm done with this project for now, until I pick up a USB hub but I hardly need it at the moment. It does everything I need it to, and I use KB/Mouse over bluetooth. its got one free USB slot I can access on the back when needed. I'll eventually 3d print blanking plates and stuff for the back but it works great now.

I still need to get some 12v regulators so I can knock the 18.5v of the apple PSU down to use for a DVD burner. This system is going to be my workbench computer and i need it to do floppy and optical burning. Going to try to wedge a 3.5" MO drive in there too, 2 of my classic machines have them and i love it as a format.

Little mods here and there improve it as I go along.
Mini Displayport to Displayport adapter, to a displayport to DVI adapter mounted to an old GPU PC plate so I can have external access to the video connector.
Also made a 180 USB connector so I can keep the USB Floppy drive cable internal and not have to snake it in and out of the case.
I still need to 3d print an I/O shield plate, but im going to wait until i have a USB hub for that. Tape will do for now.
At a good stopping point now. Its a functional machine and the rest of what I need to do is going to be a little more involved. Need to figure out how to get 12v for running full size drives, add a USB 3 hub internally for more expansion, and print up some port shields for the back. But right now it's going to serve duty as my workstation computer.
More progress on the MacBox Pro
Got the 2nd iteration of the logic board adapter tray printed up and did a test fit with the HDD cable and wifi module cable attached. Also got a power button soldered up to the testpads by the keyboard FFC.
The unit boots up and runs great, power button works. Still got lots to do.
