any ideas how I can open / import / convert an newer Apple Photos library from Monterey to be used with an older version of Photos on Mojave

or ...are there any apps / programmes that can open or extract the images complete with timeline data?

and any recommendation for alternatives to Photos

Apple been very helpful. I got 3 callbacks and spoke to 4 different Apple support engineers. Sadly no indication of cause. Did library repair which took 5 1/2 hours. Now the dreaded "Restoring from iCloud". Means Photos will be busy for a while not working, but it is what it is.

Go to Mac/Photos/Prefs(or)Settings/
and deselect 'Download Originals to this Mac'
