@aweiss back in 2020 I produced an indie documentary about this very issue,but on the #MacquarieRiver in Australia, rather than the Colorado.
My research led me to the same shocking point: 80% of all the human-used-water is the valley is used for crop irrigation.
Its always towns and the environment that cop the worst of a drought, but their needs are relatively smaller.

Of all the media I did in the lead up to the national release of #FollowingtheFlow this piece by #AAP journo Steph Gardiner was one of my favourites.
It can be hard to explain just how emotionally charged a #documentary about a #river and #watermanagement can be. Steph did a great job doing just that.
