One of the smallest lichens I have ever found, even the fruiting bodies with their red apothecia are no larger than 2 mm.
But there are even tinier fruiting bodies on this lichen, they are called pycnidia.
You can see them in the macro photos, took these photos to identify the lichen but I'm not done yet.

Not a traditional #Caturday shot, but close enough? Found this guy helping himself to our potted fennel plant the other day and took his portrait before relocating him.
(For the curious: Shot with a 1970's era 50 mm lens with a 19 mm extension tube at f/16, I usually don't shoot that narrow to avoid diffraction but in this case I thought it was a good tradeoff.)

This is another focus-stack--one of the first I ever did so I don't remember all the parameters, except that it was done with a Kiron 105mm macro lens, which was a heavy, awkward beast of a lens to use. There were probably 20-30 images taken and stacked. A nearby window was used for lighting.
