@dec_hl @tootapp This is more of a #retrocomputing thing, and bit of a side note, but #MacSOUP https://www.gryphel.com/c/sw/other/macsoup/ was named for being able to import and export (Simple Offline #Usenet Packet) #SOUP. Usually generated by #uqwk.

In theory, if a #nntp relay for #mastodon / #activitypub existed, something like this could be used for offline reading of Mastodon

@dec_hl @tootapp The #NewsTap interface was influenced by #MacSOUP which had interface for navigation around the «tube map». I'm not sure if it possible to mute/follow subthreads in #Mastodon

@dada ce ne sera jamais aussi beau que les threads sur #Usenet.
Les arborescences sous #slrn sont de toute beauté (il faut que le message initial soit légèrement trollesque).
Il y en a aussi qui ne jurent que par la représentation graphique de #MacSoup.
