In 2020, after multiple visits to doctors and specialists, we found out that my dad's failing eyesight was due to macular degeneration (which he still calls immaculate degeneration sometimes).

He gave up his driver's license officially at that point (though he unofficially gave up driving before then and I shuttle him around to where he needs to go).

Then he hurt his back. He has two crushed vertebrae and it causes him no end of grief. He can't really stand up straight and he can't walk for too long.

We (my parents, my husband, and I) talked it out and decided they should move in to town (pop. 3000), where we live. The blue house is about 15 minutes out of town, in a community of about 250.

With neither of my parents having a license anymore, moving them to town meant they could get groceries and prescriptions delivered and didn't have to rely on me for everything. They'd get more independence.

“After they confirmed the presence of synaptic connections, the researchers analyzed the cells involved and found that the most common retinal cell types forming synapses were photoreceptors – rods and cones – which are lost in diseases like and age-related , as well as in certain eye injuries. The next most common cell type, retinal ganglion cells, are degenerate in optic nerve disorders like .

“That was an important revelation for us,” says Gamm. “It really shows the potentially broad impact these retinal organoids could have.””

Get ready for some next level eye care technology – introducing the Arges glasses by Cellico. These high-tech specs relocate unseen images for clearer vision – it's mesmerizing!

Built into the bridge of the eyewear is a small 4K camera. Live video from the camera is visible on a screen to one side of the user's field of vision – where they're actually able to see it – via a display on the inside of the glasses' lenses.
