Militarisation of #Puno prompts fears of further killings
On Sunday, 5 February, the Peruvian government, through a supreme decree, declared a state of emergency lasting 60 days in seven regions of southern #Peru: #Apurímac, #Arequipa, #Cusco, #MadredeDios, #Moquegua, Puno and #Tacna. The decree disposes that the Joint Command of the Armed Forces take control of policing operations in the “Altiplano”; for altiplano, read Puno.
