#OTD in 1931: Former #Mafia boss Ignazio #Lupo was arrested in #Brooklyn and charged with the months-old murder of Roger Consiglio. (Consiglio was struck and killed by six bullets as he stood near a #BathBeach service station on Oct. 8, 1930.) The case was soon dismissed for lack of evidence.

The location was within the short stretch of #Passyunk known as the #BloodyAngle. Avena and Feldstein died of their wounds.

#OTD in 1921: On orders from #Brooklyn -based underworld leaders, Bartolomeo Fontana took his longtime friend Camillo Caiozzo to a wooded area in #NewJersey and shot him to death. Fontana later confessed and revealed a long list of crimes committed by an interstate #Mafia network known as the #GoodKillers.

An original sentence of 25 years was commuted to 15 and reduced to about 10 for good behavior. During the 121 months he was behind bars, hundreds of pages - relating to family, letters, visitors, health, legal appeals, criminal activity, etc. - went into the file.
