#PulpFiction #magazines, like #AmazingStories, #WeirdTales, #DocSavage, #TheShadow, & hundreds more, pulled us through the 1940s toward the millennium.

For 30+ years #RustyHevelin ran the original #PulpCon here in #DaytonOhio. Collectors visited us annually. Now, we've essentially run out of #PulpMagazines & the evolved #PulpFest has moved to PA. I miss the books & their fans.

#Pulps are fragile & difficult to find in any condition. Perhaps we let some go too easily...

If you take a look at #Lit Mag News on Becky Tuch’s Substack (link below) you can submit a question about whether #reading a #poem on a videoed gathering is tantamount to #publishing, & therefore the poem can’t be submitted to #literary #magazines. I don’t know the answer but it is an absorbing question for independent #authors #writers.

Admitting defeat, the B&N magazine section used to be a place of wonder and inspiration but the last few visits have ended in disappointment. The newsstand game is dominated by SIPs now, and the remaining niche interest magazines are mostly shadows of their online selves — if you can find them at all. ☹️
