@robinlovelace #emacs, which includes the incomparable #orgmode, #magit (git), and #tramp (editing remote files, running remote processes), along with good support for #RMarkdown and #BibTeX

While I use some in-#Emacs tools (e.g. #mastodonEl, #mu4e, #EXWM of course, #magit, etc.), I find #jabberEl pretty outdated compared to modern #Jabber clients like #Dino, #Gajim or #Profanity. And #eww feels very slow compared to #Firefox π (C-x 8 RET SLIGHTLY FROWNING FACE RET).

@jamesrylandmiller - Ulysses, which i use for long-form writing
- Bike, which i've recently been trying to use for outlining
- Obsidian, which is free but i do pay for Obsidian Sync
- Git Tower, which is a great Git client for macOS
the first three can all be replaced by #orgmode, the last one by #magit.
these are all native #macOS apps designed by some very competent devs, so they're all really very lovely. but subscriptions cost money, and all of them have missing features or limitations that don't matter when i'm in #Emacs.

Note that Emacs is far more than a large window with monospace text. GUI Emacs (the preferred way to use it) supports variably sized fonts (both horizontal and vertical) images and more.
Emacs users prefer text-based interactions as they're easy to navigate with a keyboard but even text-based UIs can do quite a bit more than you might expect.
Check out (heh) #Magit for example.
Whether Emacs' UI is "slick" is subjective but it's certainly more than a monospaced grid of characters.
I am so proud of myself π: I have just used #git #CherryPick for the first time ever and, drum roll, it worked! Did it via the command line as for some reason I get lost sometimes using #magit in #Emacs even though magit is fantastic for the usual activities.

#emacs folks
I observed two very strage thing , that I need figure out say without Google
1- Whan i tried to encrypt my authinfo with #gpg by simply saving it , it told me that my my key is useless, which didn't change when i tried it even by command line
I deleted authinfo and gpg keys
And created another, did the same ( iirc) but with epa-encrypt-file and encrypted a one password /region at a time, it worked for whole file
2- I tried to mv an older version of a file in another dir on cmd , which is present in Emacs ls , but ls can't stat it , when I try to cp the same file to another dir , it works
What's going on
I am on #nixos and using #magit
#Lazygit is five years old. Iβve been using it for a few years, and itβs made interacting with #Git so much more convenient. I used #vimagit (inspired by a coworkerβs use of #Magit) before it, and the official Git #CLI before that.
Love me a good tool

Lem news: I ran my first interactive git rebase inside Lem π (lots of work remaining)
Hey everyone!!! I just released a really important usability update for #Gex, which is my #Rust #OSS project for #git interaction inspired by #Magit
Finally, we have scrolling! This is a feature that should've been added a long time ago, but here it is. Spent a long time tweaking it to try and get it to feel "right" so I'd love to know what you think!
My third #emacs package is on #MELPA! Use heroku.el to as easily manage your #heroku instances, as you manage git with #magit. Transient is the most efficient interface possible! You can tail logs, run commands like bash and python, restart and promote dynos, connect to Heroku Postgres with #psql using built-in Emacs sql functionalityand more!

John Gruber might be Satan. magit-wip-mode. I can never tell when NYT is being obtuse or unintentionally helpful. New Himalayan loom – fingers crossed.

So that's it for Fashion for today (I think). Here's one declaration: I finally followed a video on how to make more than one github account and figured out a system for public/private for each yesterday. Which is good. I track a few things with friends and I want my stuff to be public for them.
And it works flawlessly with Magit of course. Gotta love Magit (new user, new fangirl) π©πΌβπ»
