@jamesrylandmiller - Ulysses, which i use for long-form writing
- Bike, which i've recently been trying to use for outlining
- Obsidian, which is free but i do pay for Obsidian Sync
- Git Tower, which is a great Git client for macOS

the first three can all be replaced by , the last one by .

these are all native apps designed by some very competent devs, so they're all really very lovely. but subscriptions cost money, and all of them have missing features or limitations that don't matter when i'm in .

Note that Emacs is far more than a large window with monospace text. GUI Emacs (the preferred way to use it) supports variably sized fonts (both horizontal and vertical) images and more.

Emacs users prefer text-based interactions as they're easy to navigate with a keyboard but even text-based UIs can do quite a bit more than you might expect.
Check out (heh) for example.

Whether Emacs' UI is "slick" is subjective but it's certainly more than a monospaced grid of characters.

I am so proud of myself πŸ™‚: I have just used for the first time ever and, drum roll, it worked! Did it via the command line as for some reason I get lost sometimes using in even though magit is fantastic for the usual activities.

How do you guys resolve merge conflicts in ? I currently use to find the conflicting files and then manually "M-x smerge-keep-blah". But a hydra or a transient (?) would be a better choice. Or does magit come with that already?

folks
I observed two very strage thing , that I need figure out say without Google
1- Whan i tried to encrypt my authinfo with by simply saving it , it told me that my my key is useless, which didn't change when i tried it even by command line
I deleted authinfo and gpg keys
And created another, did the same ( iirc) but with epa-encrypt-file and encrypted a one password /region at a time, it worked for whole file
2- I tried to mv an older version of a file in another dir on cmd , which is present in Emacs ls , but ls can't stat it , when I try to cp the same file to another dir , it works
What's going on
I am on and using

Love me a good tool

Hey everyone!!! I just released a really important usability update for , which is my project for interaction inspired by

Finally, we have scrolling! This is a feature that should've been added a long time ago, but here it is. Spent a long time tweaking it to try and get it to feel "right" so I'd love to know what you think!

Why has it taken me this long to find the package forge for . This plus code-review and are the power packages.

My third package is on ! Use heroku.el to as easily manage your instances, as you manage git with . Transient is the most efficient interface possible! You can tail logs, run commands like bash and python, restart and promote dynos, connect to Heroku Postgres with using built-in Emacs sql functionalityand more!

So that's it for Fashion for today (I think). Here's one declaration: I finally followed a video on how to make more than one github account and figured out a system for public/private for each yesterday. Which is good. I track a few things with friends and I want my stuff to be public for them.

And it works flawlessly with Magit of course. Gotta love Magit (new user, new fangirl) πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ’»

@mykhaylo Yeah, but using just to git config.org is kind of silly I think. Unless it's not and you can let me know how wrong I am - something to which I'm not adverse at all. πŸ˜€

OMG git in (via ) is insanely powerful and easy to use.

I just was cherry picking commits from a branch that I'd deleted (thanks git reflog!) all with a few keystrokes and I didn't need to RTFM

Hypothesis: the quality of commit messages is directly proportional to the quality of the UI within the IDE used.

Prediction: folk using and on average produce the best quality and most useful commit messages.

I'm using TRAMP to ssh into a VM running on my local machine. I cd'd into a git repo, and hit `magit-status` almost without thinking. It just... worked. Amazing.
