A supernatural horror RPG based on the French folk tale about a young womam who marries a rich older man whose previous wives have all vanished. It symbolically explores issues of feminine horror like misogyny, domestic violence, body image, beauty standards, sexual abuse, etc. It's rare for me to feel fear bleed through a game, but this one can do it. Running with safety tools is imperative.

I played in an AMAZING game of "The Between" earlier today at #MagpieGames monthly Community Play Day.

The Between is a narrative-focused #TTRPG by Jason Cordova about a group of mysterious monster-hunters in Victorian London. Published by #GauntletRPG.

My character was "Wild" Rose Larabee [The American], a pistol-packing, monster-hunting cowgirl from Wyoming with a mysterious past and a strange curse.

It was a fantastic game!

Speaking of #IndieTTRPG publisher, that's a term I personally find inadequate for meaningfully large publishers like #Modiphius, #FreeLeague, #Chaosium, #MagpieGames, #Cubicle7, many others, or even #Paizo

I'd call them "Major" or "Boutique" publishers.

They would benefit from your, and deserve it more than #WotC.

They might not spontaneously send out free review/test copies but, if you're a content creator, you can politely message them for free PDFs. They're very likely to send one.

@nerdybutcute I played a ton of Champions 4e back in the 90s! These days, I mostly kick in story-game circles, and Masks: A New Generation from #MagpieGames seems to be the supers game of choice.

Another second Saturday, another #MagpieGames Community Play Day. I played in a fun session of #UrbanShadows. My "Veteran" archetype was a Fae scion of the Summer Court who spent the last 50 years at a human college because he found out learning and college life are fun. He may also have supplied half the campus with... um... herbal remedies.
Over the course of the game, we investigated a murder and messed with one elder vampire on behalf of another elder vampire. Our characters worked together quite a bit more than the system usually intends, which definitely sped things up, but also made the web of debts we spent some time setting up feel a bit wasted, though sometimes worldbuilding feels like its own reward.

Also, as it turns out video games are really helpful in supporting ttrpgs. The #SaintsRow Boss Factory (available for free on Epic) is increadibly awesome for creating character images for modern settings and #StrangeHorticulture made sure I had a sufficient amount of weird plants to distribute. Thanks again for the recommendation, @Lilliana_S!

As if Magpie Games knew I was frustrated with #Hasbro. This will be my first #ptba game.

Other folk are posting about receiving #MagpieGames #AvatarLegends, whereas we're on it like a car bonnet. Looking forward to getting some Airbender #ttrpg on in the new year!

During the Community Play Day of #MagpieGames, I played in an awesome game of #TheBetween where we investigated and finally exorcised the Saint James Street Ghost. Awesome first look into the game and the ways it facilitates creating a story, a setting and three-dimensional characters to inhabit them!
Also, maybe my Factotum was a little miffed at the insinuation that apart from strange occult purchases, the finances of a household could be considered boring.
