The #Eocene #Mahenge site in #Tanzania 🇹🇿 is a rare exception to the rule that #fossil #ecosystems tend not to be preserved in their entirety. Located just south of the #Serengeti, the area has yielded #fossils of everything from plants - such as #Acacia mahengense - to #insects - like the #beetle Mahengea (just named this year!) - to #mammals - including the #bat Tanzanycteris - to Singidella, a #frog named for the nearby town of #Singida.
