I still have a lot more to get through and hope to do so today. There are only a few more #GustavMahler albums I would like to get, but that will have to wait until I have the funds. Actually, specifically, I am interested in getting more Mahler conducted by #IvánFischer.

Most recordings of the #Mahler 5th that I've heard drag the Adagietto out painfully. Rudolf Schwarz's with the London Symphony gets it right. #classicalMusic

Managed to sleep a little while listening to #Mahler. When I woke up Mahler was still playing. 🎵 Last time that happened I had rather severe nightmares. No dreams that I can remember this time. I bet Mahler gets blamed for lots of things in general. 🤔 Just grateful that I was able to get any sleep at all. One would think with sleeping pills I would be able to sleep through the full night. I really miss a full night's sleep. I can hardly remember what that is like. 😞 #insomnia

Abbado, as always, nailed it. Pitch perfect, still my favorite mahler interpreter.

Just an recommendation. Do NOT listen to #Mahler while you sleep. The dreams are unbearable. I didn't learn my lesson the first time I woke with nightmares and put on a different Mahler album, went back to sleep, and the cycle repeated itself. Now I am going to have spend my day flossing my brain with #Schubert. I know what you are thinking, but yes, it was that bad. #classicalmusic

Guess I'll listen to the #Mahler 2nd again tonight, since the library has so helpfully furnished me with a copy of the score. It's immense: quadrupled woodwinds, 6 trumpets, 10 horns, 2 harps, 2 timpani, soprano and mezzo soloists, full chorus, off-stage brass choir... I know from experience that I can count on superb playing by the #Milwaukee Symphony and an inspiring interpretation from music director Ken-David Masur this Saturday! #MSO
