I just saw that @gutenberg_org is here which is great news. It made me think of an old system I use to use called GUTS (Gutenberg University Timesharing System). Anyone else here ever use this?

In 2019 I joined IBM and the team I was on ran our first #IBMzDay. As a virtual event already, we had a head start on the years ahead 😆

So we've had them every year! And every year it's grown! The CFP for the 2023 edition is now open 🎙️

This is a win for #selfhosting, but previously we've seen the transition from #mainframes & terminals, to #PCs, to #thinclients, to #workstations, to the #cloud, so I don't expect this to last.

Still, it gives people more options. Tiny service that doesn't have any info you wouldn't publish on the front page of the newspaper? Go for the free tier on a public cloud!

Address books, photos, videos, and the like can go on your #nextcloud server. Use whatever is appropriate.

Whenever someone tells me that I have too many #mainframes for my #testing, my first response is to laugh. Once I pick myself up off the floor I explain that the #complexity of these systems coupled with the number of configurations we support, I can always use one more!
