✨Fun fact ✨ I'm a wee bit of a serial refactorer. Check out my thoughts on refactoring, sprinkled with a little OpenTelemetry on this week's episode of the Maintainable Software Podcast which dropped today, which, incidentally is my bday, so double bonus. 🎉

If you're not making an effort to ensure , , and of new things when we're ramming steadily into the "find out" of the "fuck around & find out" situation with environmental and ecological abuse, you're either irresponsible or malicious.

It is inexcusable to make (and most other waste) now. It never was excusable, but the reasons why hadn't yet made themselves blatantly obvious to all observers. Now they have.

@mac84tv I like how Framework offers a little package to reuse removed motherboards (like a compact computer) when upgrading their laptops.

The massive e-waste and lack of is why I’m moving to computers that can be maintained, upgraded, and repaired with less waste and is more consumer-friendly too.

Redoing and maintaining :

If we were to purchase a new car, throw all the stuff from the old car in there, and say we maintained the old car

Everyone would look at us like 🤔

But for websites, this purchasing of new sites (redoing) has kind of become the main approach to

Then unsurprisingly, we end up knowing little about website (or less than we may like to think)

Some past thoughts, specifically on the value of limiting redos:

My next episode is available, and this one talks about building a web, or internet, scale application.

We'll discuss the three pillars of applications: , , and .

This episode is intended to give a perspective on why internet scale applications are so expensive, and what it takes to build and maintain them.

Also, if you're a regular listener, I'd appreciate a rating on Apple podcasts 😉

「 endoflife.date

End-of-life (EOL) and support information is often hard to track, or very badly presented. endoflife.date documents EOL dates and support lifecycles for various products.

endoflife.date aggregates data from various sources and presents it in an understandable and succinct manner. It also makes the data available using an easily accessible API and has iCalendar support 」

It's really cool to be getting the question: "Why choose over other popular frameworks?" already. So I wrote up a page that hopefully answers that: github.com/gbevin/rife2/wiki/W

@FranckLeroy considering the price for medical devices and , I think hospitals should demand , and from manufacturers.

and isn't just about , but should be considered espechally in like Hospitals.

And that means not allowing toxic relationships & dependencies to exist - or at least not be uncontested.

"While it may be tempting to write code that is very dynamic and can be reused in many places, this can come at the cost of making the code harder to change and maintain in the long run. In some cases, it may be more appropriate to accept the redundancy of defining multiple functions in order to make the code easier to understand and maintain."

"Sometimes, we focus on writing code that is convenient to reuse in multiple places. This can lead to code that is very dynamic. While this may seem like the perfect solution at the time of writing, it can have downsides in terms of maintainability."
