Last night I became custodian of a #MakerBot 5th gen #replicator. I've never used a #3dPrinter before, and this one has a couple jammed print heads I'll need to fix to get it working.

Anybody got any tips for a #maker newb? Is there some cool #foss firmware I should install? Should I invest in a heated bed add-on?

Just to say - that about 10 years ago - #MakerBot made big promises about their next gen machines - turned out to be not very good

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm was a co-founder of the #hive13 #hackerspace and it consumed every spare moment of my life for about 5 years (before kids). I know how to 3d print and laser cut and all that jazz. I have an original Cupcake #MakerBot (serial number 00130). I know my way around an Arduino and a soldering iron.

I got my first 3D printer 9 years ago today.

Ich interessiere mich sehr für den Sketch Large für das Schulumfeld (mit Housing, Filter, Kamera ab Werk) – allerdings nur, falls der auch 3rd-Party-PLA zulässt... ich finde dazu aber keine Aussagen, sehe keinen AUX-Port...
