When l was the gullible version of my less experienced self, before l studied the #science of #psychology, l used to naively believe that all l had to do was to explain to people that something was bad, & that knowledge would make people, in general, want to do better.

Now l understand that when people are doing harmful behaviours that makes them feel good, the evidence doesn't typically changes their behaviours, because the evidence makes them feel bad.

Hypocrisy & moral grandstanding (status signaling) are the norm, not the exception, regarding what people say not aligning with what they do (activities), on matters about #ClimateChange

Hypocrites don't intend to try & make their rhetoric (AKA BS) align with their activities.

Genuine #ClimateAction advocates promote societal change so more people can choose the right activities. E.g., EV public transport, safe bicycle routes, ending the animal industry.

Personally, the most difficult social aspect of having the knowledge, the intelligence, that humans are causing the climate to change (& caring enough to want to mitigate climate change), is living amongst people that are Dumb Ass Narcissists (DANs) that choose to take part in the worst delusionally harmful activities. In some contexts the DANs are oblivious to the harm they are causing themselves, their families, their communities. What makes them narcissists (NARCs) (#sociopathological) is how they react when their Dumb ass behaviours are called into question. NARCs don't take to kindly to their ignorance, their delusions, being questioned.

When "adults" (with an aspect of immaturity) choose to do what are evidently behaviours that only ignorant people would choose to do (given a more intelligent alternative choice), yet they react with denial & antisocially when those Dumb ass activities are called into question, those adults are being Dumb Ass narcissists.

To be clear, l have nothing good to say about narcissim. I have nothing good to say about #fascism or #racism. These traits all share a common sociopathological variable. A racist is a narcissist, by definition (e.g., a deluded perception of superiority)

Narcissists also have dishonest "streaks" in their personalities (it comes with the "territory". The personality dimension). Because narcissism is a delusion, people with more extreme conditions have a underlying insecurity. For example, if that narcissism has been compounded by a false belief, for example, religion or greenwash, the narcissist tends to react instinctively if those beliefs are called into question.

In this context, lets focus on the Dumb Ass Narcicists that are friggin obsessed with lighting fires. I live in #Cumbria which is a county in #England. In Cumbria, which l have personally renamed Dumbria, many of the adults are scientifically illiterate (e.g., more specifically, they generally lack an understanding of chemistry & biology). They're also religiously indoctrinated (faith based perceptions) and greenwashed.

The term narcissist (NARC) infers having a flase perception of self. NARCs believe in ideas that are not real, & have bigger ego's than their intelligence. In many social contexts, their ego is used, implicitly and explicitly, to cover over their lack of knowledge of a subject. Narcissists believe in their own nonsense (a delusion). The dishonest aspect is that, due to their ego, their vanity and pride, NARCs want to dominate the social conversation. That key point is dominate. The truth or facts of the matter are not the focus of narcissists agenda's, they simply want to dominate the social sphere. That's why narcissists tend to be sociopolitical fundamentalists. For example, that become antisocial if their fundamental, their indoctrinated belief in capitalism, is called into question.

NARCs are, generally, instinctive creatures. To be clear, there is some overlap between NARCs & fascism (sociopaths). However, judging by their behaviours, NARCs cruelty tends to be more implicit than explicit fascism. Although, they're both forms of sociopathology. Social psychology that causes harm. For example, a NARC will over look the moral aspects of their activities by perceiving, or lying, that the immoral aspects are acceptable because "it's only business". In other words, NARCs put profits before people and planet (the environment or ecology)

Narcissism can take a multitude of forms. However, the common psychology is delusionally based ego's. Delusion occurs due to a lack of knowledge (intelligence) and generally, emotive drives (e.g., tribalism)

Personally, the most difficult social aspect of having the knowledge, the intelligence, that adults are polluting their own air (& caring enough to want to mitigate that problem), is living amongst people that are Dumb Ass Narcissists who cause the smoke pollution problem. And, personally, having the knowledge that these "adults" are observedly, evidently by their general behaviours, too dumb ass to help themselves. Because, when all is said and done, they are the friggin psychological problem.

Ignorance can be impossible to mitigate (on a practical time scale), if that ignorance is culturally endemic & narcissistic.

The fact that many adults evidently do choose to take part in the worst ecologically harmful activities, just shows how ecologically maladapted they are.

How can the problem, the ignorance & arrogance, the hubris of humanity, improve it's behaviours if they're in denial that they're the friggin morons?

They can't and won't! So yea, that's depressing. But, since when did sociopathological behaviours result in wellbeing? (Rhetorical)
