Des malaises lors du #Baccalauréat, il y en a régulièrement. Mais de la non-assistance à personne en danger, c’est inacceptable. L’enquête administrative révélera si ne pas prendre au sérieux chaque #malaise serait malheureusement devenu habituel.

I've been amazed by the diversity of #Diapriidae #wasps in my #Malaise trap in #Canberra. The genus #Rostropria is a particular favourite.

Here are three images of female Rostropria spiniventris and one of Rostropria simplex.

Early & Naumann 1989 recorded the same two species from the ACT, butonly found brachypterous/micropterous females of spiniventris.

3 out of 5 of my ♀ spiniventris have been macropterous. Is wing length controlled by development environment?

Blog post reviewing the #Lepidoptera species identified from #DnaBarcoding #insects from a year's #Malaise sampling in my garden in #Canberra.

Even though I have spent years photographing and identifying hundreds of moth species in the garden, these DNA barcodes added 23 species I had not previously recorded. Some seem common and are rarely or never recorded on citizen science platforms like #inaturalist

Another find from #Malaise trapping and barcoding specimens in #Aranda ACT has been that a moth not yet recorded on iNaturalist is actually pretty common here.

Eumenodora encrypta is a small and nondescript #xyloryctid, so dull and plain that I would never have identified it otherwise.

Probably only of interest to myself ... I've added an extra parameter to the URLs for my BOLD Australia site for exploring #Australian #DnaBarcodes. If you include "gmaea=1" in the URL, it highlights the taxa and records associated with BOLD specimens from my local #Malaise trapping. I'm finding it really interesting to visualise my specimens in context.

If nothing else, it made me realise that Guelph found #Strepsiptera in the sample from the week of 1-8 August 2021.

I recently got a #Brother #label #printer to label tubes of #Malaise samples I store in the freezer. It's so convenient to edit and print a single label from my computer. It automatically cuts it from the roll of label tape. It's a massive help.

Soooo ... does anyone know of anything similar - or any rolls/strips of quality ungummed paper that can be used in such a printer?

I REALLY would love to be able to print single labels for #insect #pins on demand (rather than A4 sheets).
