Our lunch in a charming little cafe in #ipoh #malaysia. So recently I found out that #chickenchop is a #Malayan thing. Apparently, the Chinese migrants of Hainanese descent who worked in the kitchens of the colonial lords created the dish. So delish. Thank you to whomever dreamt it up all those many years ago.

Actually, we might begin with a meta step forward, with "a history of #Malayan history" from the 18th century until the pre-WWII era (published in 1998), by the late British historian J.M. Gullick.
