Eating dinner a little later tonight because I had a nice tea (one of my supervisees brought me Tambun biscuits from Penang, which I haven't had in years! A childhood favourite).

Dinner's going to be another childhood mainstay, simple flour dumplings tossed into anchovy stock, then toss in a couple of handfuls of spinach leaves. Some nights, this is all I want. #food #today #malaysianfood

I made dinner tonight. Omelette with sweet soy sauce and black pepper sauce, and an omelette with a tinge of cencaluk. According to my wife, the cencaluk omelette is the better of the two.

Spicy pepper soup is a Kajang specialty that reflects the local Chinese history, back in the days laborers drink the soup at dawn to warm their bodies before going to work in tin mines/rubber estates (where it’s often very wet & cold).

This one is Kee V restaurant, which is not what I’ll consider the best out of the many spicy pepper soup shops in Kajang, but it’s still pretty decent and we didn’t have to stand in a long queue.

This tiny tricycle stall selling steamed buns in Sungai Chua, Kajang has been operating for decades, I’ve been enjoying it since I was a kid and am happy to report that it’s still as tasty as my childhood memories.
