Today went to #malbork. I visited the #castle of Malbork which is the largest castle in the world measured by land area. It was originally constructed by the #teutonic #knights. I am very happy that I could finally visit it. I love #medieval #fantasy and I find #polish #history very #interesting and I love to learn about it. The place Is enormous, I have a guide and the #sightseeing took 4h. It was a fantastic #experience.

The Great Refectory
The larger refectory in the castle of the Teutonic Order at Malbork in Poland.
The largest castle—by area—in the world, the extravagant arch vaulting of the roof is both beautiful and eye-catching, but it’s not the only remarkable thing in shot.
Just visible in the floor at the bottom of shot is a six by six grid of white squares containing dark circles. These are the hot air outlets, part of the castle’s “hypocaustum” or central-heating system, which channeled air heated over hot rocks through stone conduits under the castle floors.
(I’m not an architectural photographer, as you can see…)
