#Dakar2023 Es ist nur noch Jim Pearson (#104 KTM #MalleMoto) auf der Strecke.
Go Jim go go gooooooo!
In a typical year maybe 60% of motorcycle competitors WITH full team support cross the #Dakar finish line. Competing in and finishing that event WITHOUT support is an absolute feat.
It’s always a tough decision whether to contribute dollars to an event as problematic as Dakar, in order to watch the full coverage. We won’t be, again this year. But if you are, seek out coverage of the #MalleMoto. Those riders deserve a LOT more recognition than they get.

#MalleMoto Is an incredible event. Riders self-support: no mechanics, no crew. They have to handle their own bike repair, maintenance, and service — with a relatively tiny toolbox and spares list. They “sleep” in tents (when they sleep — there’s little time for sleep for most competitors after the racing and bike maintenance). The only mechanical assistance they’re allowed is from other Malle Moto competitors.
For #JamesHillier to run his rookie #Dakar in Malle Moto is a remarkable choice.

Being a politically progressive feminist and a #MotorcycleRacing fan has its paradoxical elements, and the #DakarRally is one of them. The Dakar is an incredible racing event with a colonialist and problematic history and present — having most recently chosen Saudi Arabia as its host country.
It’s also home to one of my favorite classes in all of motorsport: the #MalleMoto class. With #JamesHillier running his rookie Dakar in Malle Moto, I can’t not watch this year.

124 Moppeds und 27 #MalleMoto (das können auch Quads sein) gehen bei der #Dakar2023 an den Start. Prolog ist an Silvester. Ich freu michtotal!
