Went to see a group exhibition of 50 local artists yesterday, loads of good works in that packed space! I particularly liked a group work of 23 artists, ON-HOLD, that used second hand flat pack shelves as a common element.
It was only a third through that show in a show that I realised why that appealed especially to me. With the rectangular base structure as a container for each artist's work, their individual manipulations of that structure, and the spatial arrangement of the shelves across the gallery floor, it was like walking through a comic.
Throughout my uncomics work, I've claimed that there are both spatial and curatorial potential in comics, and — even though I well know that probably wasn't on the coordinator or participating artists' minds — this collective work is a fine example of that.
I hope I get a chance to pick the brains of some of the people behind this 🙂

Apologies that I can't credit depicted artworks to individual artists at this point!
