@oleksiy

I have a personal instance of running. One can import one's lastfm history into it and then simply continue scrobbling. Of course, your scrobbler has to corrently send things to the maloja api.

And speaking of which, Maloja 3.x did not work at all for me. Specifically, it didn't upgrade the old database correctly nor did it receive scrobbles I sent to its API, so I am sitting at the last 2.x release.

@flavigula My last.fm account is probably going to hit 1000 000 scrobbles this year. I've decided to then shut it down and move to a local instance.

last.fm/user/k_men

(Likely to stick to for the foreseeable future, though - I enjoy it too much.)

((Oh, and if you're using Firefox, the Web Scrobbler plugin can scrobble to : good for Bandcamp, SoundCloud, some other web audio sources.))

Since I use a personal instance to keep track of my music listening habits, I have to use players that let me submit scrobbles. There are various, and usually can easily be configured for lastfm or librefm. for android also works for maloja.

On my desktop or laptop, I am migrating away from mpd and audacious (respectively). I'm simply using to play everything. A lua script is triggered every time a track is played, even from an internet stream, so there we go.

@RobertaFidora kind of laid the foundations for something like that. (I can't recall whether they switched to the protocol or not). These days, I can imagine something like the servr, but using the protocol. Of course, we'd get federated instances, so no-one will be able to get all the data (good riddance, Top10 lists). It could be interesting.

Recovered almost 20 years of my music listening (outside of platforms) from
and imported the whole thing into listen.buzzworkers.com, I still have to figure out how to have to only use local images or avoid fetching wrong images for local artists :)

I had a lot of fun writing my own web music player last fall but it's pretty rough around the edges and I don't really see myself picking it back up as a project, so I'm looking at mopidy+iris again, especially if I can get Tidal integration working.

One feature I'd like to keep from my own app, though, is long-term listening history... not sure if Mopidy has anything like that in its core, but if not :famous last words: presumably an extension could be written to log tracks as they play. ( looks like a nice self-hosted scrobbler github.com/krateng/maloja)

I've been using since 2007. Today I decided to install and start keeping my own track of scrobbles. After all, why not?
