The almond is also the name of the edible and cultivated seed of this tree.
I have previously observed and posted pink inflorescence from this species of tree.
These whites are just as elegant!

#AcaciaPycnantha, most commonly known as the golden #wattle, is a tree native to southeastern Australia.
Snapped this just now.
It grows to a height of 8 m (26 ft) and has quite unique flattened leaf stalks (best description), instead of true leaves.
My childhood home had one of these on the nature strip. It was at least three times the breadth of this one pictured and a balanced rounded shape. Well, maybe an overestimation of its size, based on my younger-self’s recollection. But it was big and bloomed like crazy during #winter time.
Golden flowers appear in abundance, during late winter.
They’re profusely fragrant, especially late in the season. Sometimes (on larger trees) they’re so pungent, you’d easily get a whiff 50 feet away, down wind.

Not sure what this is… but it’s turning in preparation for dropping, shortly.
I feature it mainly for the myriad of colours it’s displaying at present, given we’re a couple of weeks into #autumn-propper and the display along this entire street in #Oakleigh #Australia is something special.
There is easily a dozen of the same tree in various stages of transformation along this shopping strip.
PS - have to say I drove along a major road in #MalvernEast after taking these pics… and there was easily a kilometre of these trees spaced say 20-30 metres apart on both side of the street. Couldn’t stop as late for an appointment, but gosh. You can imagine the burst of colours for that rather marvellous drive-time.

This is a species of #orchid… it is beautiful!
It is a Epidendrum radicans; common names include ground-rooting epidendrum, fire-star orchid, rainbow orchid, and reed-stem epidendrum.
