I had problems getting PhpMyAdmin to work in XAMPP, alternatives like MAMP are basic & proprietary (you pay for more features). Using a local development server in Linux is a breeze. Thanks Microsoft for enabling WSL2, now we know that you also know that Windows sucks 😆

51 followers · 826 posts · Server phpc.socialI've isolated why the `.profile` keeps resetting on #macOS using #MAMP to host #PHP locally.
You can modify a host while the server is running. To save the changes, a save button will be presented. Clicking the save button will stop the server and start it again.
When I do this, the `.profile` file is reset.
If I stop the server, modify the host, and start the server, all seems to be okay with the world.
Longer story, but I sent MAMP an email reporting the bug and will update the post.

Using MAMP Webserver locally with Hugo. Setting up a local MAMP macOS server environment for Hugo.
If PHP is to be used within Hugo, e.g. for a contact form, MAMP for macOS is one way to realise this. The local server environment allows testing PHP with Hugo as on a web server on the internet.

On Monday on my local #MAMP setup I installed six CMSs (#Backdrop, #Drupal 7, Drupal 9, #Joomla 3, Joomla 4 & #WordPress), with #CiviCRM on each of them.
It amazed me recently how few folk know there's a comprehensive #FOSS CRM/bulk-email/fundraising/membership/event/etc tool that runs inside the three biggest CMS (ie linking to each CMS's user dbse, ACL, URL routing, etc). And it has its own 1000+ extension ecosystem. There's even a standalone Civi, tho it still needs its own user mgmt & ACL.
