Long History of Lean Thinking in Government

"It is good news that a government organization is adopting lean thinking ideas, but this kind of thing has been going on for decades. My father wrote a short section in Dr. Deming's Out of the Crisis on applying these ideas in the City of Madison (early 1980's). I was involved in the Public Sector Network (federal, state and local gov in 1990's)..."

Next was an amazing talk by Enase Odu Okonedo on the complexities of decision-making in a volatile environment at the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. Okonedo gives an insightful perspective on why corporate governance falls short, the prevalence of gut-based decision making in business, the role of luck, and more. Highly recommend youtube.com/live/DjOjxXKx-lc?s (10/13)

Is there a (oral) history of agile development (particularly scrum)? There are many interesting assumptions in the concept and methods, and I am curious what shaped them

Holacracy - The Dystopia Behind the Utopia🌴
A critical look at holacracy and why it might not be the ideal solution for every company.
If your employees can already contribute, there is no need for Holacracy. However, if the employees cannot contribute, Holacracy will also not be able to save anything as you have the wrong mindset.

There are people who wish to create and there are people who wish to control. Currently organizations have and need both types of people. Control is needed when separate groups of people are creating something together. Control *should* harmonize the workflow (YMMV).

Since artificial intelligence is going to take over anyway, we should start by creating an artificial intelligence that is designed to manage organizations.

It can't be any worse than the current situation.

excerpt from Experimenting to Discover

...They emphasized, consistently, the need for those doing the work to involved in the experiments. The job of statisticians was to help in the cases where advanced statistical tools and knowledge would be useful. The reason for those who do the work (are familiar with the process) is because they have knowledge to bring to what should be tried in experiments.

Can it be any surprise that after a decade of stagnant real , the dire state of UK practice, the continued media focus on celebrity culture (where the talentless but 'entertaining' are rewarded) & a government that has made it its to shove money to its mates, that a significant minority of young people increasingly do not see a clear link between hard work and a 'better life'.

The only Q. is how fast is this feeling spreading?
