This seems relevant to the recent discussion we had here about the firing of Dr Mike Joy and the problem of managerialism in our universities:

So sad. Hopefully it sparks an open revolt against treating tertiary faculty like seasonal fruit pickers.

#Netflix is an example of a service that was once at the very top of its market being destroyed from within by rampant #managerialism. Their decision making is all over the place recently

@LordWoolamaloo During a couple of decades of dealing with those in charge of funding the arts in Scotland I was surprised, saddened, and angered by how mediocre they were.
And, indeed, are.
They conserve consultants and administrators, not artists. The curse of #managerialism is everywhere. We deserve better. A stipend for artists for a start; let the Administrati deal with perpetual financial uncertainty instead.
Good read on what #Longtermism is & why its adoption by #Musk, Jack, thiel, and yes, Putin presents a present day geopolitical danger. #SpaceX has a role.

This directly intersects w/ #Managerialism (which Putin has accepted as a means to thwart #Democracy.)
Billionaire plutocrats like these ideologies bc it’s a countering approach to the control & regulations #democracies put on big corporations & the super rich.

Yeah, I’m just gonna keep RTing, reboosting that post about Elon’s #managerialism and his sabotage of the US dollar, til people start to connect the dots.
If I find that podcast with Dave Troy and authoritarian expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat talking about it, I’ll post it. #twitter
@markhenick I’ve been thinking about these issues in regards to #higherEducation administration and even department-level leadership. There’s also some more recent research from European business schools that the over-surveilled model of the Harvard a business School management philosophy that kinda transformed business management (#neoliberalism #managerialism) works against productivity. Fewer managers, more humane work places, workers taking ownership and being rewarded for it

So I joined in May & failed to bring people with me from Twatter, so didn’t write an #introduction. Let’s try & do that properly now everyone is coming 😉 I trained as a #composer & first worked for Sibelius/Avid in #music #technology tech support then product management (9 1/2 yrs). Then I discovered I loved music #teaching & spent 12 years in classroom #musiceducation. In 2013 I finished my PhD & moved to Sydney Conservatorium (Sydney #university ) where I’ve been composing, moving into #hiphop production, teaching, & researching ever since. I love it (& my students) very much but the state of #neoliberal #managerialism in universities makes me very sad so I’ve got active with the #NTEU. Here on Mastodon I hope to share ideas with music teachers, researchers, philosophers & creatives, but I will slip into politics & cricket from time to time so sorry about that.
