Weird thought, but the liberal #votebluenomatterwho insistence is actually the most idealistic and unreal position possible.

It pretends that #democrats would do things if they could. But, for example, having both houses and the White House in 2021 wasn't enough. Because, as they like to smugly lecture, they need 60 votes, and #manchin doesn't count because reasons.

Supreme Court clears way for #MountainValleyPipeline construction to proceed

"The Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the way for construction of the controversial Mountain Valley Pipeline to proceed, granting an emergency request from backers of the project that has the support of Congress and the Biden administration.

"The justices agreed to lift lower court orders that froze construction of the project while legal challenges play out.

"The Supreme Court’s order is a victory for #WestVirginia Sen. #JoeManchin, a conservative Democrat who has championed the project and pushed for it during #DebtCeiling negotiations in June.

"In the brief order, the court offered no extensive reasoning and no dissents were noted.

"The order came as the White House announced new actions to combat #climate-fueled extreme heat, which has been baking cities in the Southwest for weeks before moving Northeast on Thursday.

"Despite #ClimateActivists urging the Biden administration to stop approving #FossilFuel projects like the #MountainValley Pipeline, White House officials have been supportive of the pipeline since it was first introduced in Congress last year. More recently, administration officials including White House senior adviser #JohnPodesta and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm voiced support this year for the pipeline’s approval.

"The White House did not immediately return CNN’s request for comment on the Supreme Court allowing the pipeline to proceed."

Senator #Manchin espouses that the extremists in both parties are a danger to democracy when, in fact, his actions help the partisan divide with his words and action.

Manchin views arise from his seeing the right and left as equals with no distinctions, but this is a myopic view and a very dangerous one. This is a false equivalency. The two are not equal. One side has a view that is a danger to democracy because it is a #fascist, #whitesupremacist view while the other side isn’t. Now I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he is just naïve and ignorant of the stark differences between the two. But considering his age and experience, it is a difficult jump to this conclusion. I believe he fully understands the differences but fails to speak or act on them instead following a path of stoking #partisanship and division within the country for his own gains and not for the welfare of the country and our democracy.

"The Environmental Protection Agency unveiled a new proposal Thursday to cut #GreenhouseGas emissions from thousands of power plants burning coal or #NaturalGas two of the top sources of electricity across the United States. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), criticizing the 'radical' proposal, issued his own scorched earth ultimatum on Wednesday ahead of the announcement.

"Manchin, chair of the #SenateEnergyCommittee and the top recipient of contributions from the #OilAndGas industry during the 2022 election cycle, vowed Wednesday to oppose every one of President Joe Biden’s nominees for the EPA 'until they halt their government overreach.'

"'This Administration is determined to advance its radical climate agenda and has made it clear they are hellbent on doing everything in their power to regulate coal and gas-fueled power plants out of existence, no matter the cost to energy security and reliability,' Manchin wrote in a statement released Wednesday.

"What #Manchin did not disclose in his statement, however, is that the #EPA proposal would jeopardize one #WestVirginia #coal facility that’s particularly lucrative for Manchin’s family business, #Enersystems Inc., POLITICO reported. Enersystems delivers waste coal to the Grant Town power plant, which was reportedly already struggling financially, troubles that are expected to deepen with the strict new climate proposal.

"Manchin personally received $537,000 from Enersystems last year, according to POLITICO’s analysis of personal financial disclosures filed with the U.S. Senate, and he has been paid more than $5 million by the company since he was first elected in 2010. His son, Joe Manchin IV, now runs Enersystems. The Senator’s campaign has also benefited from political contributions from Enersystems, OpenSecrets reported last year."
