Having a puppy means I get to see the beautiful sunrises again and by the time the sunsets come around I’m ready to go back to bed 🐕💤 #perthWeather #mandurah
Down at Lake Clifton, south of Mandurah, I managed to catch this Banded Stilt flying low over the lake.

I decided to check out the local outdoor art exhibition, the #GiantsOfMandurah, by #Copenhagen-based #artist #ThomasDambo: these huge wooden sculptures found all around #Mandjoorgoordap (#Mandurah) and they are absolutely stunning!!
I took some more photos along my journey that I'll post in the comments 🧵👀 #Art #Wood #Wooden #Sculptures #WoodenSculptures #Perth #WesternAustralia #Australia

Let me formally introduce myself to everyone on Mastodon: Hi! I'm Jacques, I live in Perth, Western Australia. Specifically, I live in Mandurah.
For the last 10 or so years I've been involved in film & video production. The projects weren't anything to write home about, but I got to work with some pretty talented people and some sick gear. Plus, I learned some extremely valuable lessons in cinematography, editing, colour grading and VFX workflows.
I also do a bit of graphic design, mainly web/UX/UI type stuff but that's taken a backseat for now.
I know my way around a macOS terminal (and by extension any UNIX based terminal).
I'm in my 30s and currently find myself in a situation where I have extensive free time to experiment with live action video production, Unreal Engine video production and some light programming.
Some things I would like to do in the not too distant future:
• Start learning Unreal Engine properly
• Remake the intro of The Operative: No One Lives Forever in Unreal Engine (childhood game, excellent writing, underrated).
• Make a live action short film.
• Master Unreal Engine.
• Find like minded people around Mandurah/Perth to collaborate with.
That is all for now. Feel free to reach out if you have similar interests and would like to collab.
Next time I'll elaborate more about my journey and experience of immigrating to Australia about 12 years ago!

Image series I took today of a Christmas Jewel Spider eating a Mosquito (I think, looks engorged... I wonder if it's my blood 😅) seen at Mandurah today.
Alt text for the photo series: The photos show a dark morph Christmas Jewel Spider in it's web. The spider is black with amber stripes on it's 8 legs. The small spider has a relatively large "cap" for its rear which has a number of black spikes with streaks of amber on it. The side of the cap has yellow stripes and spots. The whole effect is quite beautiful. The spider manipulates it's web to draw in a small mosquito with red blood inside it. Over the image series the mosquito and spider draw closer until the spider holds the mosquito in it's embrace.
The web is delicate and made of distorted parallel lines. The background is blurry and lush green.
