I love it when old street furinture is left in place when streets get renovated. This great example is from Oswald Street in central Glasgow. I really want to know what it used to be for as the instructions on it are very precise, but are now rather cryptic given how this area has changed over the years.

Glasgow Corporation Water Works access cover from a street in Finnieston in Glasgow. This is a very functional item of street furniture, but there's something very pleasing about its design.

In my defense, I had no idea that was a thing here, or I'd have been participating long ago. Bits of artistic infrastructure fascinate me. Here's the first one I could find on my phone, on the grounds of the former General Hospital, a military hospital now used for a Christian college. I'm not sure which foundry the 'W' represents – it appears to say "Contractors F[oun]dry Inc", and Phila, 1942.

Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Company access cover found today in the Dennistoun area of Glasgow. I love it when I come across one of these. The logo is wondefully art nouveau and they're between 91 and 111 years old. This is only my third one from the streets of Glasgow.
