I switched long ago from #mint with #mate (I loved #compiz effects) and moved to #manjarokde with #plasma5. I have to say that the distro and the desktop environment are really satisfying. However, it depends for every user, I guess. There is a single thing from Compiz effects that drew me back to Mint several times in the past: the ability to control window brightness individually, independent from the screen brightness. It was simply awesome for my eyes. I really miss that feature!

So something on my system has changed and is causing connections to Xorg to exceed the allowed number meaning that I can't open applications at a certain point. I'm not opening anymore than I was before and it seems like the number gets smaller as time goes on. Anyone got any thoughts on where to look to debug this?

People ask me how often I update my various Desktops. Well since almost all run #XeroLinux save one I do it once every 2 weeks... As for my one and only #ManjaroKDE I update that once every month... No issues 2 years running. #Linux #xp

That was my thought as well. But in my testing was involved 3 different USB sticks and 3 different laptops (I have around 7 laptops🙂 ). The results so far:
#opensusetumbleweed - all 3 failing
#manjarokde - all 3 working fine
#opensuseleap - all 3 working fine.
Gonna ask on OpenSUSE forum to check the ISO snapshot.

Well. It's turned out that this is the #opensusetumbleweed ISO issue. Different laptop from different maker shows exactly same behaviour.
As of now, I've decided to go with #manjarokde installation from scratch with full-disk encryption (Manjaro OEM was without FDE).
BTW, #starlabs support was really helpful. I guess I'll order another 11" laptop Star Lite for my mom as well😊

Is it worth trying #voidlinux ?
My main system is #opensusetumbleweed #kdeplasma (which is also rolling release). Before I was using #manjarokde , but wanted something more stable.
How is it laptop ready?
