@derek I've used #Manuskript long enough to have filed a bug report or two, but I haven't been writing much at all lately. No idea what it'd be like for a seasoned professional writer, but I found it relatively easy to use and you can't beat the price.

I've been experimenting with #Manuskript - an open source writing tool in the manner of Scrivner. I like how it helps to build an outline, and allows the user to reference popular story structures (3 act, hero's journey, etc.)

The fullscreen mode is distraction free, but you can pretty quickly expand and collapse an outline or notes.

Alas, it won't write the book for me, but then, I'm not looking for #chatgpt. :)

For those on #Gemini, I wrote up a little on the #Librem5 a few weeks ago. I'm still getting used to it, but I am writing this post on the Librem 5 :) It is much more capable than my old Pinephone (though the Pinephone is cool).

Most important for my writing, it runs #Manuskript really well. I use #Tootle for Mastodon, and #Lagrange for cruising Gemini.

So I took a little more time to check out #Manuskript and I'm quite impressed. It has a lot of the basic #Scrivener functionality, including plot summaries, character bios, plot points, worldbuilding, and an outline (if you use such a thing).

You can import your DOCX, ODT, and MD files, too. There's support for colored labels (which I use to mark POVs) and status labels (such as first draft, etc.).

I plan to use it and then I'll write about it on my site.

then a bucket of buckets to vom' draft in basically hits the spot.

This is a PSA since you can't do an ad for freeware, and that's one of my favorite things about it...

@Nike_Leonhard Genau so handhabe ich es auch. #LibreOffice (als Linux-Anwender bin ich seit Jahren Fan) für das alltägliche Schreiben und #Papyrus vorwiegend wegen der vielen Funktionen neben dem eigentlichen Schreiben. Für die Konzeptionierung verwende ich allerdings auch #Manuskript. Ist zwar schrecklich zu bedienen, aber wenn man sich einmal daran gewöhnt hat, geht es eigentlich.
