@ixi When we give into or allow xenophobia and hate we get Manzanar. I visited in 2021 and am still haunted by the whole experience. I simply could not shake the feeling of Evil that permeated that bleak place. The cemetery was particularly tough to witness In particular the marker for little Midori Furuya, Born in captivity August 12, 1943 and died in captivity August 14, 1943. #ExecutiveOrder9066 #WW2 #IncarcerationOfJapaneseAmericans #Manzanar

I’ve said it before, that trip was one of the most important moments in my life. I keep the picture of the entrance as my banner wherever I go.

The haunting main cemetery at the Manzanar Internment Camp, North of Lone Pine, California. Japanese American citizens who had done nothing wrong were rounded up and placed in these camps during WWII. I had a hard time shaking off the evilness of this place. and in particular the grave of Midori Susan Furuya who was born in captivity and died a day later never knowing freedom. #TombTuesday #Manzanar #evil #Japanese @georgetakei
