About 50 representatives of Upper Swabian peasants groups, engaged in the German Peasants’ War, met to formulate the Twelve Articles #OTD in 1525. These articles called for freedom from serfdom, the right to elect pastors, land reform, and other rights. The meeting is considered to be the first constituent assembly in Europe since the Roman Empire.
