Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (aka Bangabandhu) addressed a crowd of over 2 million future Bangladeshis #OTD in 1971, calling for them to prepare for civil disobedience against West Pakistan as a result of that government’s failure to respect the population of East Pakistan. Bangabandhu went on to eventually become Bangladesh’s first (and only socialist) president.
