Lisa Wilkinson and Brittany Higgins broke the silence that many women live and understand.
Janine Hendry organised us to stand up and be heard in the #March4Justice rallies.
Two years on and Lisa Wilkinson and Brittany Higgins are paying the price.
That's what this is about.
@Bellingen Hmmm...just like all the women in #March4Justice in 2020 were told by Morrison they should be grateful they weren't shot.
#Lib leaders love to point out how lucky we are they haven't had the chance to grind us down like that - YET. Wouldn't they just love to be in Florida or Texas?
'The number of (known) women killed by violence in Australia currently stands at 51, surpassing that of 2021 when 43 such deaths were recorded'. Almost one woman per week. Possibly more by the end of the year.
As Xmas approaches, statistics tell us this time of year can be a more dangerous time for women.
Something must be done. This is not a statistic to be taken lightly. That is it up from last year is an indication that much work needs to be done at all levels of society and government to create awareness.
Constant dog whistling via the media and prominent misogynistic voices creates divisiveness and very often, acceptance of disrespect and violence.
