I just found out a neat thing about footnotes in #markdown, can't resist to share: you don't need to number them yourself, write whatever text you want and it'll dynamically automate the numbering for you.

E.g.: "Footnote[^1]" can be replaced by "Footnote[^lorem]". Then in the footer, just write "[^lorem]: ipsum" instead of "[^1]: ipsum" and it'll save you from manually updating the notes numbers.

Neat, right?

I consider myself a reasonably smart guy. I’m not an idiot. I’ve used computers for a long time.

I have never been able to get the #Shortcuts app to do what I want with the Share Sheet.

Did I share an “Article”? A “Safari web page”? A “URL”? “Text”? It’s impossible to know.

All I want to do is share a #Markdown-formatted link to the thing I’m sharing, no matter where I’m sharing it from. That should not be difficult.

How do we get an #markdown #web browser off the ground? Like, no #JavaScript or #CSS -- it reads .md files over HTTP/S and renders them. All style is user controlled. We go back to a document-centric 'Web without all this bullcrap

I wish the indent = code block behavior would get deprecated from the #markdown specs. Triple backtick fences for code blocks and single backticks for inline code seem to have those bases covered, and indents could be freed again for the purposes for which they’ve always been used in prose and verse. (Markdown sucks for #writing #poetry because of the indent prohibition.)

Programmers aren’t the only ones who use markdown.

Really liking #quarto even if only as a neat build system for @pandoc with nice integrations. Currently building a presentation in #RevealJS using @gmcd 's quarto-revealjs-clean presentation style in #VSCode in #Flatpak using #DevContainers (on @Podman_io 8-D) with a custom #pandoc filter by @odin for smart „German“ quote marks.

The result is dead simple to setup and code (thanks to #Markdown), any tool that can run dev-containers should pull in all build dependencies, and I simply vendored the presentation style & the filter. And I get beautiful output, a free speaker view.
